Protein – This is essential when it comes to muscle building as you will find that nearly all sport nutrition programs contain a large amount of protein.

Fat – Many people assume that fat is bad, this is not the case all diets require to have a certain degree of fat within them. Fats such as omega 3’s and omega 6’s also known as fatty acids will help you to develop muscle, burn fat and improve your fitness. Don’t mistake these for the wrong type of fats which are generally referred to as saturated fats. The good type of fats can be found in fish, fish oil and olive oil.

Carbohydrates – These are used as a good energy source and without them you will often find it difficult to complete exercises. When your body consumes carbohydrates it signals the body to begin releasing insulin which is what transports amino acids which in conjunction with protein helps to repair and build your muscle cells.
